Team Profile
John Baker
Tech Instructor/Videography
John Baker is a Technical Diving International (TDI) Instructor Trainer, Closed Circuit Rebreather Instructor, U.S. Coast Guard Captain, expedition leader, and underwater explorer with more than 20 years of professional experience.
Over the course of his career, John has trained thousands of divers and taught more than 100 instructor development courses while participating in expeditions to some of the world’s most iconic shipwrecks, including the Andrea Doria, U-869, Bikini Atoll, U-2513, and the B-17 Flying Fortress in Croatia. Beyond these renowned sites, he has spent years researching, locating, and documenting lesser-known wrecks, submerged sites, and aircraft through underwater photography, videography, and sonar.
John’s experience extends beyond instruction. He has owned and operated a successful dive center, co-founded a commercial salvage company, and served as a U.S. Coast Guard licensed Captain since 2004. Today, he leads private expeditions aboard luxury yachts and custom-built research vessels, providing advanced diver training, expedition leadership, underwater documentation, and technical diving support for clients and exploration teams worldwide.
Whether mentoring instructors, documenting a historic wreck, or leading a remote expedition, John’s mission remains the same: to share his passion for exploration while helping others become safer, more capable, and more confident divers.
