Team Profile

Candice Heizmann

Photogrammetry, Cinematography

Candice is an experienced Captain, technical diver, instructor, underwater cinematographer, and support diver with a career built around maritime exploration, underwater operations, and shipwreck discovery. She began diving in 2013 and took her first professional underwater role in 2018 as an underwater videographer for a dive shop in Portugal. That experience sparked a passion for combining exploration, storytelling, and technical expertise beneath the surface.

Over the years, Candice expanded into technical diving, earning her initial certifications under renowned wreck diver John Chatterton and later becoming rEvo rebreather certified to support deep wreck and expedition projects. In 2022, she joined Chatterton’s team on an expedition in Dominican Republic, serving as both captain of the survey vessel and underwater cinematographer, conducting photogrammetry and filming in the search for historic shipwrecks.

Following the expedition, Candice has worked as a Captain and hydrographer for a New Jersey–based survey company before stepping into her current role as Captain of Research Vessel Triton, whose mission is to locate, document, and identify shipwrecks along the East Coast of the United States.

Outside of her research work, Candice owns and operates a successful technical dive charter business in Florida, continuing to support and grow the technical diving community while sharing access to some of the region’s most challenging and rewarding underwater environments.
