Team Profile

Candice Heizmann

Photogrammetry, Cinematography

My career in maritime exploration began in 2013 when I first started diving, and it quickly grew into a deeper passion for working beneath the surface. In 2018, I took my first underwater role as an underwater videographer for a dive shop in Portugal, an experience that brought together exploration, storytelling, and technical skill in a way that shaped the direction of my career.

Over the years, I expanded into technical diving, earning certification under renowned wreck diver John Chatterton and later becoming rEvo rebreather certified to support deep wreck and expedition work. In 2022, I joined Chatterton’s team on an expedition in the Dominican Republic, serving as both captain of the survey vessel and underwater cinematographer. During that project, I conducted photogrammetry and filmed underwater as part of the search for historic shipwrecks.

Following that expedition, I worked as a captain and hydrographer for a New Jersey-based survey company before stepping into my current role as Captain of Research Vessel Triton. Today, my work focuses on locating, documenting, and identifying shipwrecks along the East Coast of the United States.
